Hit Reality Show “Dreams To Champions” starring Brian Olatunji Moving to Velocity

March 10th, 2014 in News by

Professional race car driver Brian Olatunji and the Leadfoot Motorsports team are revving up the 2014 racing season with a big announcement! Hit reality series “Dreams To Champions” has joined Discovery Communications’ Velocity network, set to debut this Saturday.

Dreams To Champions” is back by popular demand. The fast paced ten episode reality series follows motorsports young guns on the fast track. Featuring racers Brian O, Juan Carlos Blum and Jonathan Castro the show was a success when initially shown on SPEED last year. After a massive network overhaul Fox Sports Media Group broadened the channel’s focus to including a vast array of live sporting events. When SPEED was rebranded as Fox Sports 1 the decision was made to drop motorsports oriented reality programming. Discovery Communications seized the opportunity to incorporate “Dreams To Champions” into its programming portfolio on their high octane, male targeted network Velocity.

“We are elated Velocity chose to pick-up Dreams To Champions and grateful to SPEED for giving us the initial platform to let the world know who we are. This opportunity is like being born again and excitement is an understatement!” stated Brian O.

Dreams To Champions” is racing to debut on Velocity, Saturday March 15, 2014 at 3 pm eastern / noon pacific. Be sure to catch each episode and follow Brian O, Juan Carlos Blum and Jonathan Castro as they chase their dreams of winning a professional championship.

Brian O a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of racing experience from Detroit, Michigan is starring in the new SPEED reality series “Dreams To Champions.” The episode entitled “Perseverance Pays Off,” takes viewers on a visit with Brian O to the John Force Racing headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.

There Brian O seeks advice from longtime friend John Force, one of drag racing’s greatest icons and 15-time world Champion! “Advice from the champ is invaluable and has been an instrumental aspect of my development as a driver,” said Brian O. In addition to visiting the John Force Racing shop, Brian O takes in the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway with Force’s Castrol Funny Car team. “There is nothing like nitro and what better place to experience it than the Big Go,” said Brian O.

Brian O is a 2005 graduate of Kettering University located in Flint, MI. He earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and has been chasing nitro dreams his entire life. His passion is closely tied to his family’s involvement as management of the now default Detroit and Motor City Dragway beginning in 1971. Brian O’s grandfather, John Broaden, was the first African-American manager of an NHRA sanctioned facility.

With the nitro seeds planted at a young age, Brian O’s quest to join the nitro fraternity provided an opportunity to foster a marketing company, Leadfoot Media, where Brian O is currently CEO. Brian O and his team have cultivated partnerships with global powerhouse bands; the U S Army, Lucas Oil and Pepsi. As CEO of Leadfoot Media, Brian O earned the prestigious Alumni Entrepreneurial Achievement award from his alma mater, Kettering University in 2011. Brian O’s motto is to live fast and drive hard! As the 2013 racing season commences he is searching for an opportunity to live his nitro dreams with hopes of earning an NHRA nitro license and competing on the NHRA Mello Yello Tour. “I’ve gone over 230 mph earning my top alcohol funny car license from Hawley and can’t wait to feel the sensation going well over 300 mph,” said Brian O!

Growing up on the tough streets of the motor city, Brian O knows the importance of education and used it as a cornerstone. With education as a building block he was instrumental in establishing the Leadfoot Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Leadfoot Foundation’s mission is to empower youth to chase their dreams and provide school supplies to students in need. During the past three years more than 1,500 students in urban areas have benefited from backpacks and school supplies courtesy of the Leadfoot Foundation.

Giving! Youth! Impact! Leadfoot Foundation’s 6th Annual Driving Excellence Charity Event

September 2nd, 2011 in News by

For the sixth consecutive year, The Leadfoot Foundation, Inc (501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization) will host the “Driving Excellence” charity event. “Driving Excellence” is the marquee event for the Leadfoot Foundation. During the event school supplies are collected then distributed to youth K-12th grade. “Our goal is to give back to the very community from which I came. After all, it takes a village to raise a child,” stated Brian Olatunji (Olatunji is Chairman and President of the Leadfoot Foundation, Inc). Detroit is prime territory to not only give back but focus on school supplies for youth. Although, Detroit has recently been well documented for trouble with public schools, the Leadfoot Foundation has been making an impact by providing back-to-school essentials for the past five years.

The Leadfoot Foundation enjoys strong partners with Pepsi and the U.S. Army; however it relies on the community to assist in their efforts. “The Driving Excellence charity event is the platform we use to ensure youth have the necessities to perform in the classroom. It is essential for everyone in a position to give, to bring $10 or more in unopened school supplies to the event to assist those in need,” said an emphatic Olatunji.

This year’s event will take place from noon until 5 pm on Saturday, September 17th at the Lighthouse on Belle Isle Park.

The Leadfoot Foundation has assembled a team of volunteers who are enthusiastic about serving each and every young person with school supplies to begin their school year. Olatunji continued, “We have our sights on continuing to grow this event. Ultimately, we want this event to be known as THE SCHOOLS SUPPLIES DRIVE of the City of Detroit. I am adamant about giving back especially given I am a proud Detroiter and a product of Detroit Public Schools!”

In addition to the collection and distribution of school supplies there will be a live DJ, hot rods on display, exotic motorcycles, face painting as well as five new 2012 Chrysler vehicles. Gleaners Community Food Bank has also been gracious to provide snacks for the young people to enjoy. The event provides an opportunity for the community to interact with each other through activities such as a kids station while benefiting with essential back-to-school supplies.

Taking Flight: Brian O Jumps with U.S. Army Golden Knights!

August 10th, 2011 in News by

On a clear Detroit morning, just one day after the U.S. Army’s 236th birthday, Brian Olatunji took flight with the Golden Knights. It was a long wait for Brian O, who was previously scheduled to jump with the U.S. Army’s Parachute Team last fall until the worst Midwest storm cell in over 30 years kept the plane and Brian O’s skydiving ambitions grounded.

The Golden Knights is the U.S. Army’s official aerial demonstration team. Made up of real Soldiers the team travels around the United States performing demonstrations at major events connecting the Army with the American people. Taking Brian O on his wild ride were members of Team Tandem, who have jumped from a plane with everyone from former president George H. W. Bush to sports stars and actors such as Tiger Woods and Chuck Norris. Ensuring Brian’s enjoyment and safety on his aerial adventure were Airborne Rangers SSG Aaron Figel and SSG Reese Pendleton. After taking off from Selfridge Air Force Base, SSG Figel freefell with Brian O while SSG Pendleton caught all the action on camera. With Lake St. Claire as a backdrop Brian O and the Golden Knights free feel thousands of feet towards Michigan below.

Brian O was thrilled at the opportunity, “Exhilarating is the only way to describe the experience! Certainly something I would do again in a heartbeat! The Golden Knights are the best in the world and their professionalism is second to none. After all, SSG Pendleton hung outside of the aircraft like passenger 57 and was able to capture my enthusiasm and experience while free falling from 14,000 feet above the earth. Awesomeness!!!”

Brian O and Leadfoot Motorsports Remain ARMY STRONG!

May 9th, 2011 in News by

Brian Olatunji and the Leadfoot Motorsports organization are proud to announce a continuing partnership with the U.S. Army for 2011. Brian O will serve as a “center of influence” and facilitate the U.S. Army in spreading the message about education as well as career opportunities as an Army Strong Soldier.

The partnership began in 2010 with an assault both on and off the race track. Now entering into the second season in tandem with the U.S. Army, Brian O looks to further enhance the Army Strong message and reach even more young people throughout 2011. “One of the great joys of being a professional race car driver is the captive audience I enjoy with young people. This forum gives me a great platform to enlighten young people about pursuing their dreams, however using education as their foundation! (Olatunji is a graduate of Kettering University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering). Interacting with young people and informing them of career options internally and externally unique to the Army is very gratifying,” said an honored Brian O.

Our Army is built on values, character and commitment which are also cornerstones for a successful motorsports program. Brian O and his race team are elated to have the strongest force behind them as they embark on the 2011 NHRA season. “Our Army Strong Soldiers exhibit strength, fortitude and a willingness to serve at all cost. We are truly blessed to live in a country where so many selflessly serve to allow us freedom. To represent these men and women is one of the highest honors one could receive. My team and I are humbled to partner with our Army,” stated a proud Brian O.

As part of the partnership, Brian O and Leadfoot Motorsports will join the Army’s efforts in reaching young Americans and their influencers about the many education and leadership opportunities available in the Army. The U.S. Army is also a proud supporter of Brian Olatunji’s philanthropic efforts and his personal charity, the Leadfoot Foundation, Inc. For the past five years the 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization has held an annual event to equip under privileged youth in Detroit with back to school essentials. The U.S. Army is extending its presenting partnership during this year’s 6th Annual Leadfoot Foundation Driving Excellence Charity Event. The event will be held at the lighthouse on Belle Isle Park, Detroit, MI on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Brian Olatunji joins the U.S. Army Racing family which consists of Tony Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army NHRA Top Fuel dragster, and Antron Brown of Don Schumacher Racing, along with Ryan Newman, who pilots the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series No. 39 U.S. Army Chevy, and Tony Stewart of Stewart-Haas Racing. The Army team of drivers represents more than one million brave Army Strong Soldiers, and give the men and women who serve this country a race team to be proud of. The motorsports program also provides opportunities for the Army to interact with prospects and influencers, and assists recruiters in building an all-volunteer force for our Nation.

Brian O’s Blog: On to the Next One

October 28th, 2010 in Blog by

One season ends and another begins! Considering our Leadfoot Motorsports racing program put an explanation point on the 2010 racing campaign with our best performance of the season, that momentum and mindset is what we’re taking into the off-season. Opposed to recapping what turned out to be a great season I’d rather take the time to thank the team for an incredible ride as we look forward to the next level. THANK YOU, TEAM LEADFOOT as well as our fantastic marketing partners!

Meanwhile, over at Leadfoot Media we’re in “the soup” working hot and heavy on a program we are both excited and looking forward to, to roll out in 2011 and beyond! Progression is the name of the game and I’m sure you all will be both surprised by our direction but also compelled to keep watch. We are also looking for more ways to engage and interact with you all. If you have any suggestions feel free to let us know. I’ve recently stepped up my Twitter game and looking to keep everyone informed on the “latest and greatest.”

The off-season is an interesting time given that it is just as busy as race season. I’m off to the NHRA Vegas 2 race in the AM, so if you see me around be sure to say “SUP.” We are pleased to announce Drive Train Specialists (DTS) are back on board for a 9th consecutive season. We are also partnered again with Rodger’s Chevrolet (Woodhaven, MI) for a second season which is a testament to the economy improving and Chevy sales increasing. In the meantime plans are in the works with our current and hopeful marketing partners who we hope to announce soon. Check back often for updates on our progress and follow me on twitter at: @brianoracing.

Until then… Live fast, drive hard!!!

Brian Olatunji Ends Season with Momentum

October 6th, 2010 in Race Report by

The first night in October proved to be a fast one as tons of fans flooded Milan Dragway. Fresh off of a new Martin Technology car setup, Brian Olatunji continued the momentum brought on by several days of testing in preparation for the night’s festivities. “It is always great to end the season on a high note. It really speaks to the hard work the crew has put in all season,” said Olatunji. Last race season Brian O’s fastest pass in his Pepsi Hot Rod was a 10.60, and during the final race of the 2010 season he improved to a 9.82 second elapsed time in a losing effort during All Motor class eliminations.

All of Brian’s runs would have been good enough to compete for the win in the Open Comp category, which Brian O was participating in at the beginning of the night. Unfortunately Brian O and his Pepsi Hot Rod are too fast off the starting line for the Open Comp class. The christmas tree runs at a slower pace in the category, and Brian O being the fastest leaver on the grounds was tripping the red light during Open Comp qualifying before eventually switching back to All Motor. Before the night was done the Leadfoot driver was thinking about next year, “We are already in preparation for next season and look to have an even more sizable impact. The championship is all we’re focused on over the winter.”

Brian O and the team continued Leadfoot’s tradition of going above and beyond for it’s marketing partners. As Brian O explained, “The hot rod ran well and we accomplished our marketing objectives. What more can I say!” As always, Pepsi and U.S. Army prizes were tossed into the packed grandstands and Brian addressed the crowd over the dragway’s PA system. Brian O’s Blog: Right Now

October 6th, 2010 in Blog by

It has been said that young people are our future, however I also like to believe they are our “right now.” Each time I get the opportunity to interact and speak with the next generation, I am encouraged and astounded by the things I learn. After all, my goal is to always encourage and offer perspective, while also gaining from their perspective as well. In the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to speak to a range of high school students around the Metro Detroit area about a diverse array of topics. Each school and student population is unique. The overwhelming consistency is that these students wanted to know how they could improve themselves as well as the world around them. I certainly enjoyed the dialogue and hope that in some small part that I made an impression and ultimately impacted their lives.

Editor’s Note: Brian has made 7 personal apperances for schools and charities so far this fall on behalf of the U.S. Army, Pepsi and his many other parnters.
